One of the quickest ways to disobey God is to worry about what people think of you. I think this is a constant battle for any pastor/preacher. Craig Groeschel says, “Becoming obsessed with what people think about you is the quickest way to forget what God thinks about you.” Ed Young says when you worry about what people think of you, you have the disease to please.
As churches grow and change, people often get upset because things aren’t the way they used to be. We often focus on making the church goers happy and forget about those who are far from Christ. I would agree with Ed Young when he says, “Quit asking who’s leaving and ask who aren’t you reaching?” If you try to please people, you never know what it takes. There is one thing that I know that will please our Heavenly Father and that is people accepting His Son as their Lord and Savior. I would rather do that one thing that I know will please God, than to wear myself out trying to please people.

My son just got back from a three week trip to the Middle East. While he was there, he did not have access to a phone. He didn’t get back until late on a Monday night. He called and left a message on my phone. It was so good to hear his voice and know he was safe. My daughter travels out of the country often. Most of the time, she can call and let us know how things are going. We love getting those phone calls and knowing all is well. If we hadn’t gotten those calls, we would really be disappointed and concerned. I can’t imagine how our Heavenly Father feels when His children don’t take the time to talk to him. When was the last time you prayed? Our Father loves it when you do!
