Radicalis

This week I am at Radicalis, a conference at Saddleback Church in California. Here are a few quotes from Radicalis.
Rick Warren
“We want better methods, and God wants better men.”
“What you are in private determines how you lead in public.”
“God is not mad at you. He is mad about you.”
“You don’t get credit for starting the race. You get credit for finishing well.”
“You have to move people from come and see to come and die.”
Perry Noble
“Seek comfort less and Jesus more.”
“If you are going through hell, it is because hell is scared.”
“We need to spend less time telling God what He can’t do and more time obeying Him.”
“We are so obsessed with what God wants that we don’t know who He is.”

Taste and see

For our anniversary (33 years), Kathy and I went to a restaurant called Filet in Greensboro, GA, near Lake Oconee. The food was unbelievable. Everything was delicious. I had the ribs. The meat fell off the bones and the flavor exploded in my mouth. I can’t wait to get back and enjoy another entrĂ©e.

Psalm 34:8 reminds us that we should have the same desire about God, “Taste and see that the Lord is good;” Psalm 119:103 tells us we should have that same type of craving for God’s Word, “How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” When we truly taste of God and His Word, it will create a deep yearning in us that continually draws us back.

Suffering

I have been keeping up with Matt Chandler, the lead pastor at The Village Church near Dallas. He is battling brain cancer. There is a great article on MSNBC about Matt’s battle. Here is the link: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35086396/ns/health-cancer/. You can also read and view more at Matt’s blog: http://fm.thevillagechurch.net/blog/pastors/. I think you will be inspired by Matt and his faith in our Father.
